Bowling Bash KC
It’s time for the 3rd annual Dana and Parks Bowling Bash KC. Working with the Kansas City Police Officers Memorial Foundation, Dana Wright and Scott Parks, co-hosts of the No. 1 talk radio show in Kansas City, have stepped up to raise money to help law enforcement officers and their families rebuild their lives after a tragic loss or devastating injury.
Your favorite talk radio hosts are tied with one win apiece. Dana took home the trophy in 2017 and Scott came back strong in 2018. Bragging rights are up for grabs once again but no matter who takes home the trophy the real winners are the men and women in blue who protect and serve our communities.
This year Dana and Parks have chosen to support the families of two local law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty.
Wyandotte County Deputy Sheriffs Theresa King and Patrick Roher had no reason to believe that June 16, 2018, would be any different a day at work than any other in their respective 13- and 7-year law enforcement careers.
They were to deliver a prisoner to the Wyandotte County Correction and Court Services Building, then move on to the next day’s assignment. They never left the jail transport drop-off area alive.
As the deputies were unloading the prisoner, he attacked. In the ensuing scuffle, one of the deputies was disarmed, and both deputies were shot.
While the prisoner was wounded from return fire, all that was left for the duties were widows and parentless children; Deputy King left behind three children, while Deputy Rohrer is survived by his wife and two children.
Help us show our support for the families of these officers who left us too soon.
